I'm running OSX Yosemite now, and Envision works beautifully.

I would like to update to El Capitan to take advantage of the split screen capability, but I am worried that this may cause issues with Envision.

I am running:

MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2012)
2.6 GHz Core i7
8GB Ram
1GB graphic memory

Any cause for concern or known issues?

Hi bis4brass,

I am running Sierra now on my 2012 Mac Mini and I don't have any problems. The same computer went through El Capitan for a year and there were no problems. You should be fine.
